Kristen Gehrlein is the Executive Director at Barclay House of Augusta. She was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania and moved to Augusta in July of 2022. She has an Associates in Liberal Arts, an Associates in Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science all from Gannon University. She also has a Masters in Health Service Administration from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as a Personal Care Home Administrator License and an Adult Day Administration License. She has 17 years of experience in the Senior living industry with a concentration in Alzheimer’s and dementia care. Kristen's favorite thing about working with seniors is being able to provide compassionate care while giving peace of mind to families. Her favorite thing about working at Barclay House is being part of a team of servant hearts and leaders. When she isn't working, she enjoys reading, cycling, and spending time with friends and family. She also loves volunteering and has been a dedicated volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association for over 15 years, serving as the previous chair for Walks, support group facilitator, and community educator.

Ashley Cooper
Director of Sales

Ashley Cooper is the Director of Sales at the Barclay House of Augusta. A South Carolina native, she was raised in North Augusta but now resides in Aiken. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Marketing from The University of South Carolina in Aiken. She has over 20 years in the medical field but found her passion for working with seniors when she worked in the home care field. She transitioned from home care to assisted living over 3 years ago and at that moment, she felt as though she found her true calling.
Her favorite part of working with seniors is getting to know them. “They all have such different and fascinating lives they have led, and we can all learn from them,” she says. Her favorite part of working at Barclay House is being able to do what she loves: helping people, whether it is the residents themselves or their family members. “Navigating this journey can be overwhelming,” she explains. “I am honored to help families along the way and offer solutions for their loved ones.”
When she is not busy having fun with her 9-year-old daughter, she loves hanging out with her girlfriends and family.
Daylee Thompson
Director of Business Operations

Daylee Thompson is the Director of Business Operations at Barclay House of Augusta. She was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia and has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a focus in Counseling from Liberty University. Before coming to Barclay House, she was a receptionist in veterinary hospitals for 2 years, and prior to that, she was a funeral service assistant and receptionist. Her favorite part of working with seniors is learning every resident’s story and their unique experiences, especially their love stories. Her favorite part of working at the Barclay House is being with the residents. “Each and every one holds a special place in my heart with their quirks, stories, and charms,” she says.
When she isn’t working, she spends her time reading, playing piano, enjoying nature at her family’s farm, and spending time with my husband and their dog, a German Shepherd named Sergeant.
Chyanne Kingsland
Director of Activities

Chyanne Kingsland is the Director of Activities at Barclay House of Augusta. Her early years were spent between her parents’ homes in Florida and West Virginia. She met her husband in Florida and they moved to South Carolina between hurricanes Charlie and Jean. They have been married for 34 years and have five children.
She taught school for over 30 years before retiring in 2018. She holds a Georgia State Certification as an Activity Director and is currently taking classes to procure her national certification. Her favorite part of working with seniors is seeing them smile. She enjoys working for Barclay House of Augusta because it's the first senior living community she's worked at where the leadership is always asking what needs to be done to make the lives of the residents better. She and her family also enjoy her new work-life balance, which gives her more time to go fishing with her granddaughter, meander through farmers markets and antique stores with her daughters, play video games with her sons, and go on weekend getaways with her husband.
Yolanda Johnson
Director of Memory Care

Yolanda Johnson is the Director of Memory Care at the Barclay House of Augusta. She was originally born in North Carolina, but was raised in the Augusta area since the age of 6. She received her CNA certification from Remedy Health Career Center of Evans, and while working for the Benton House, she was also able to receive her CMA and Certified Dementia Partitioner certifications. Before becoming a CNA, she owned and operated a successful cake bakery.
Her favorite part of working with seniors is making memories with all of her residents. Her favorite part of working at the Barclay House is being able to care for each of her residents each day by making them laugh and smile. “I’m very passionate about what I do and enjoy going above and beyond for everything they need,” she says.
When she isn’t working she enjoys cooking, shopping and spending time with her husband and with her family. She is a mother to five beautiful kids and became a grandmother this year. Also, she spends a lot of her free time caring for her mini farm of chickens, barn cats, and mini goats.
Lavina Owen
Director of Dining Services

Lavina Owen, MBA-MHSA currently serves as the Director of Dining Services at Barclay House of Augusta. She is a Florida native, who grew up in Belle Glade, and in recent years she has relocated to Georgia. She currently holds a bachelor's degree in Gerontology & Psychology from Bethune-Cookman University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration & Health Service Administration from Keiser University, as well as many other healthcare-related certifications. She has been volunteering and working with seniors within the healthcare industry since the age of 16.
Lavina has always had a passion for cooking and serving others. She took a brief hiatus from dietary and culinary services to work bedside and gain knowledge in different care settings. She has acquired skills that have allowed her to become even more passionate, enjoying the challenges that her job brings, while accommodating and providing delicious meals and quality service to our residents.
